Welcome . . .
to Mid-Peninsula Puppy Guides

Our Purpose

The Mid-Peninsula Puppy Guides group is located on the San Francisco peninsula in California. We are volunteer raisers of all ages and from all walks of life who are given the privilege of raising Guide Dog puppies from 8 weeks to 16-18 months of age. The pups are whelped at the breeding kennel, which is part of the San Rafael campus of Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. During the year or more that the pups are living in our homes, we teach them basic obedience commands, proper house behavior, and socialize them in all aspects of the outside world. It is important that they have plenty of experience going to public places and doing things that most dogs don't experience. They need to be fully used to and comfortable "working" in any environment.

This site is organized as follows

  • Home - This page

  • Career Changed - They didn't quite make it but we love them!

  • FAQ - Frequently asked questions about our group

Our Location

Our group meeting place is in Palo Alto. Our raisers and puppy sitters live on the San Francisco Peninsula, from San Mateo to San Jose.
